What to Wear

Typically, being surrounded by hundreds of sweaty, gyrating strangers isn’t my cup of tea, but when it is for the concert of one of my favorite artists I’ll make an exception. Seeing someone perform live that you have only heard through your headphones can completely change your perception of that artist (for the better or worse). While less may be more in terms of the amount of clothing you wear to that crowded indoor venue or outside concert under the blazing sun, your outfit has to stand out from the crowd of thousands of screaming fans.

This Fashionista managed to pull off an outfit that was the perfect amount of grunge and girly by combining soft and edgy pieces. Her basic white T-shirt is anything but boring when paired with these striped denim shorts. Adding some spunk to her otherwise delicate outfit, her combat boots and silver spiked accessories are a great example of how one or two pieces can change the look of an entire outfit. If you are looking to expand on your otherwise girly wardrobe without looking too much of a “bad girl,” combat boots are a great piece for you to add.

Although wearing brown and black together is often labeled as a “fashion faux pas”, it works wonderfully here as the camel purse adds neutral tones to balance out the darkness of her combat boots. Accentuated with gold embellishments, the purse looks great with her silver and diamond studded rings.

While this season’s emphasis on girly and delicate with the incorporation of flower headbands and lace is great, consider stepping outside of your comfort zone with the addition of some edgier pieces.

One Simple Change: Switch out the combat boots for brown gladiators for a look to wear to brunch with friends.
