One of my all-time favorite things to do is going to concerts. I love big venues, small ones, festivals and everything in between. If I’m being honest though, the best place to see a show is a smaller venue where you can get up close and personal with the band. I’ve seen some of my favorite bands in the last couple of weeks at venues like Shea Stadium in Brooklyn and the Mercury Lounge on the Lower East Side. When I spotted this Fashionisto, I was immediately obsessed with his Misfits vest, dark color scheme and poppy red Vans.
Concert style can be tricky to get right sometimes. You obviously want to look effortlessly cool in hopes that one of the band members will fall hopelessly in love with you, but you also want to be comfortable. Otherwise known as, “the struggle.” You just have to keep in mind what kind of venue you’ll be going to. I’ve ruined one too many good shoes by wearing them to a jam-packed venue where people were spilling drinks all over the place. Don’t make that mistake. R.I.P., J.Crew loafers.
This Fashionisto kept his look classically cool with a graphic band T-shirt, pair of jeans, cool Misfits vest and some bright red Vans. I love how he wears his favorite band right on his back. Expressing your taste in music through your style is a fun way to play with fashion. Bands are usually pretty proud of the merch that they have to offer, so if you like them then why not support the cause and pick up a few things for your closet while you’re at it.
One Simple Change: Dark colors can be a little treacherous during the summer. Swap your black band T-shirt out for a plain white shirt while adventuring around during the day so that you don’t keel over due to a heat stroke. That might kill the rock ’n’ roll vibe you’ve spent so long cultivating.
