WHAT TO WEAR: Cold Weather

November 5th, 2015 at 2:00am

The other day I heard a girl mutter, “Ugh, I’m freezing! The warm months last like two days here.” Giving this Californian the benefit-of-the-doubt, it does seem like my favorite sunny days of fall are quickly (and sadly) coming to an end. If you’re anything like me, you’ve left all your cold weather gear at home, optimistic that the temps wouldn’t drop below freezing until after you went home for Thanksgiving. That means, ladies and gents, it’s time to call your parents and have them ship your coziest jackets, hats and mittens because it seems like the cold weather is here to stay. So, until your body adjusts to the November chill or until your winter gear arrives in the mail, layer up under your fall-weather jackets, just like this Fashionisto did.

For a sleek and simple look, this Fashionisto opted for neutral, complementary colors that play off each other, making the whole outfit pop in a very subdued and chic way. Although subtle, this navy anorak jacket is really the statement-maker of the entire look. This well-traveled Fashionisto picked up this piece of outerwear in France, a perfect representation of his European-esque sense of style. A cargo-style jacket like this is an awesome trend right now for guys and makes for a perfect transitional piece during these bleak November days.

These black Levi Brand Jeans are a great staple piece for guys. I like to equate a nice pair of black jeans to the women’s version of an LBD. They can be dressed up or down, and choosing a black wash over traditional blue denim wash adds a little flair of class and style to your wardrobe. Another staple in this ensemble is this pair of TOMS sneakers, an all-time favorite for this guy. Not only are these shoes trendy and versatile, but each pair helps supports a person in need with the TOMS “One For One” initiative, encouraging people to look good and do good all at once.

To brave the chilly November weather, this Fashionisto topped off his outfit with some great cold weather accessories. A nice knit beanie and a warm scarf help complete this cozy European look.

One Simple Change: The lightweight material of this jacket makes it super versatile and perfect for the warmer seasons, too. So, shed your thermal layers underneath in exchange for a tee in brighter, contrasting color, unzip that jacket and throw off the hat and scarf for a perfect spring or early-fall look.
