WHAT TO WEAR: Cold Weather

Every now and then, Northeast Florida undergoes a brief period of 40-50 degree weather mixed with high power winds and frequent showers; if it were socially acceptable, I’d be the one to pile on the sweats and wear multiple trash bags to combat this animosity.

Experiencing a similar weather pattern? Don’t you fret! All it takes is some smart layering and waterproofing to get you through the storm.

Here, this Fashionista layers a tunic-length black and white striped sweater over a black skater skirt. To keep warm, she sports thick black knee-high socks over sheer black tights with a matching black scarf. To top it off, she protects the layers beneath with a black nylon raincoat atop a hooded army green utility jacket.

This overall look is truly both perfect for the weather and effortlessly flattering. Normally, anything tunic-length does not flatter those of us who are petite in stature. However, in the pursuit of this Fashionista’s primarily dark dress code, she manages to make it flattering. The flared skater skirt breaks the outfit up, and the continuous black from her tights to her combat boots elongates her legs.

School: check. Weather: check. Smart, comfortable and flattering ensemble: check. This Fashionista definitely has everything under control. Word to the wise: be prepared!
