WHAT TO WEAR: Cold Weather

What to Wear

Just because the groundhog saw his shadow, and spring doesn’t seem to be anywhere in the near future, doesn’t necessarily mean we have to hate the colder weather. In fact, as Fashionistas/os we should be able to embrace every season no matter the temperature, and this weeks Fashionista did just that.

The key to her outfit is layers. Layering is the most effective way to stay warm and when done well, can be the most stylish too. The first layer is a black knit sweater from ASOS, then topped with a BCBG sleeveless blazer. For pants, she’s wearing J Brand blue jeans and on top of everything is a dark green Zara parka, which is trendy in it’s coloring and style and, more importantly, designed to keep you warm. Another way to conquer colder weather and keep your legs warm, is with high riding boots and this Fashionista chose a chic tan Tory Burch pair to do just that. Now that she’s bundled for the cold, adding accessories should be a fun and simple task. She decided to layer her necklaces like she did her clothes by wearing Tiffany’s and Michael Kors heart necklaces. Her final touches are a a David Yurman ring and a turquoise Hermès bangle.

Since the cold days seem to be more often than not lately, keeping the layering approach interesting and not repetitive can sometimes be hard. However, a quick and easy solution is the incorporating of colors and patterns. Yes, oversized knit sweaters are perfect for winter but that doesn’t mean it has to be dark and dreary colors that resemble winter. Urban Outfitters has a fun collection to pick from with bright and eye catching colored cardigans, as well as fun knits for the underneath first layer.

One Simple Change: By swapping out the jeans and tan boots for a pair of black pants and black booties, the outfit can become a WHAT TO WEAR to work instead!
