WHAT TO WEAR: Cold Weather

What to Wear

When the temperature outside is literally only five degrees, it can be a challenge to decide against those sweatpants and UGG boots every day. However, keeping warm and staying fashionable is entirely possible.

I spotted this Fashionista looking cute in the cold! She paired a long sleeve charcoal gray T-shirt dress with black leggings and a white puffy Patagonia vest. Patagonia is a popular outdoor clothing brand on UD’s campus. From colorful fleece pullovers to ultralight down jackets, I see Fashionistas and Fashionistos sporting Patagonia all over university grounds. In the chilly temperatures, a puffy vest is sure to keep you warm and cozy, and will also allow you to show off your fashion sense. Had this Fashionista chosen to wear a long peacoat, she would have hidden her adorable cold weather look!

A popular trend that has surfaced among many college campuses this season is the winter white trend. Fashionistas everywhere have begun to ignore the “no white after Labor Day” rule and are flaunting their finest white garments throughout the cold, winter months. The featured Fashionista mastered the winter white trend through one signature piece: her puffy Patagonia vest. With a white vest as the central aspect of this Fashionista’s outfit, she made the best choice in going with a grayscale color scheme for the remainder of her look.

The beauty of any cold weather outfit is the ease of accessorizing. Pictured is a Fashionista who clearly knows how to add to a wintry ensemble! Her trendy gray and white chevron striped scarf complements her puffy white vest on top of her charcoal gray T-shirt dress. Her gray cheetah print earmuffs create a bold contrast with the chevron stripe print on her scarf. Additionally, this Fashionista added a unique edge to her look by rockin’ a pair of black suede lace-up wedge booties, rather than a typical pair of UGG boots.

Fashionistas, next time you wake up, look outside and see snow on the ground, I hope you leave your sweats in your dresser drawer. I encourage you to think about how adorable this Fashionista looked, and remember what Cushnie et Ochs said: “Life’s too short to wear boring clothes.”

One Simple Change: Switch out the wedge booties for a pair of black leather combat boots if you have a day planned to run errands!
