Just when you thought the polar vortex had said its piece, it rolls back around just in time for the first week of classes. Marist College is an especially windy campus that makes any weather seem a bit cooler, so this week has been even more of a style challenge than typical winter weather usually is. I’ve seen many of my peers bundling up in their own amazing ways with plenty of great scarves, hats and parkas, but I loved the ways that this Fashionista stayed warm in the frigid temperatures. She did an amazing job of staying true to her personal style, which combines urban and boho elements effortlessly.
To get a perfect urban boho winter look, get ready to have fun with color and layers! Start with a pair of sleek leggings with interesting textures or details and a modern graphic T-shirt. This Fashionista built onto her outfit with a Free People chambray shirt with sweater sleeves that not only keeps her warm, but adds a pop of color to her outfit. To top things off, find a great patterned coat like this Fashionista’s from Topshop, which is inspired by Fair Isle patterns more commonly found on cozy winter sweaters. Trendy boots with hardware, layers of bracelets as well as rings and a black beanie will complete this outfit and have you ready to conquer the weather, all while looking fabulous.
One Simple Change: You can easily transition this outfit from cold weather in the winter to shopping outside in the spring. Swap the beanie and heavy patterned coat for a wide-brimmed fedora and a lighter trench coat that will have you looking glamorous, timeless and ready for any sales you spot.
