Polar vortex. Arctic blast. Frozen tundra. To my dismay, this bitter cold doesn’t appear to be going anywhere quite yet. The below freezing temperatures are causing me a bit of trouble in the morning because while I’m dying to wear my favorite booties, I have to repeatedly choose the warm, durable boots instead. I’m also constantly looking for new ways to style my thickest sweater just so I can wear it again and again to keep warm. All I can say is that I am praying that the groundhog predicts an early spring!
In the meantime, rock the perfect cold weather look like this Fashionista does. When I think of bundling up to go outside or curling up with a hot cup of tea, I instantly think thick, cozy crème sweater, similar to the one she’s wearing. I love that as you get closer to this Fashionista, you notice the unique cable knit pattern that it features. To mimic her look, pick up this J.Crew sweater that I am currently obsessing over. This version has fun twists like its shrunken, feminine silhouette and the addition of pockets.
A thick jacket is imperative if you want to make it to your destination without becoming a human popsicle. If a basic puffer isn’t up your alley, try a military inspired jacket like this Fashionista. When shopping for a jacket meant for extreme cold, make sure it covers your rear and has a hood to block out harsh winds like hers. Another important cold weather ensemble feature is a good pair of worn-in, trusted jeans.
This outfit is completed with a dash of red. The details on the boots as well as the socks peeking out, keep this Fashionista warm while adding an interesting and unexpected element to the ensemble. This pop of the power color will turn heads and keep your feet extra cozy on those arctic walks around campus.
One Simple Change: With just a few quick changes, you can take this cold weather look that’s perfect for treks to class and create an ensemble that is just right for that casual date night! Swap out the snow boots for a pair of tall, heeled boots that’ll more suitable for dinner and a movie with your beau. If your jacket allows, detach the fur-trimmed hood as well and instantly you have a date night coat. With both versions of this look, you be extra warm but still very stylish!
