Over the winter holiday, many students traveled off into the sunset on tropical family vacations or returned home to warm temps (sigh). But now that we have returned to the land of Spokane, Washington, students wish they could have brought some rays of sunshine back to Gonzaga’s dreary campus. With temperatures dipping into the teens, Zags seek warmer styles to stay cozy during the first week of classes.
As the temperatures continue to fluctuate, so does the number of a Fashionista/o’s layers. Whether it is because we are forced to put on more clothing out of instinct or because it gives Fashionistas/os the chance to wear more of our favorite things at a single time, I love that the declining temperatures bring out the best of layering in us.
Under an oversized sweater, you can wear a lighter weight shirt that can be seen at the neckline or peaks out from the bottom. And, of course, you can still put a great vest or cozy jacket over the top. This Fashionista did an amazing job layering her button-up chambray shirt with a black cardigan that looks fabulous and keeps her warm.
The best part about dressing for cold weather is the accessories that go with it. To top off her look (literally), this Fashionista dons a beautiful black wool floppy hat, which provides extra protection from the elements. It definitely takes a bold Fashionista to try out a big hat like this, but trust me, you can pull it off too! All you need is the right outfit to go along with it; and with her black booties and hat, this Fashionista is spot on.
When bundling up for the cold weather this winter, make sure you do it in style!
One Simple Change: By wearing a silk blouse instead of a button-down, this outfit would be perfect for a winter night out.
