Even if you’re lucky enough to live outside of the Midwest, you’ve probably heard rumors about “The Polar Vortex.” For the past few weeks, we’ve been experiencing unbelievable sub-zero temperatures and blizzards, forcing most people to stay inside and watch unhealthy amounts of Netflix. However, now that school is back in session, college students are braving the icy sidewalks and harsh wind to commute to class. Unfortunately, as warmth trumps style, now isn’t a great time for fashion on my campus. Still, this Fashionista found a way to stay toasty warm while looking fabulous.
My favorite part of this look is this Fashionista’s choice in footwear. A good pair of boots is vital for this weather, and this pair is solid, weather-resistant and compatible with almost any color combination. This Fashionista kept most of her outfit neutral, choosing gray corduroys, a cream cashmere scarf and an insulated army green winter jacket. She completes the look with her statement piece, a unique J.Crew button-up. Zip up that jacket, wrap that scarf and add a cross-body bag because this Fashionista is ready to trek to class!
Last week, the weatherman told me that if I went outside for an extended period I could die. Clearly, he isn’t a Chicago native. At zero degrees, Santa abandons the North Pole and Chicagoans maybe decide to close their windows. Don’t let an intimidating forecast stop you from expressing yourself through fashion. See it as an opportunity to flaunt your adorable outerwear and winter accessories! If we can do it, you can too.
One Simple Change: For a more formal look, pair this Fashionista’s patterned button-up with a pencil skirt, tights, heels and a cute peacoat.
