Sometimes when I’m dressing for winter weather, I get too caught up in all my comfy layers and being warm that it may appear as though I’ve forgotten all about the existence of fashion or trends. A lover of my leggings and oversized outerwear winter uniform, I’m sure you can see why this Fashionista’s chic and on-trend version served as some much-needed inspiration. If you’re like me and bored with your winter uniform, read on for some trendy, pastel-happy inspiration to try in your looks this winter.
She started off her look in all the right ways with a cropped powder blue sweater paired with high-waisted black skinny jeans. Sweaters are an easy-chic piece to throw on over a midi skirt, leather pants or (one of my favorites) even a dress. Check out this cropped sweater in soft pink from Topshop for a similar look. These great pastel springtime shades are on-trend and at the moment most prevalent in winter coats, statement sunglasses and fluffy sweaters. Another trend right off the runways and out of my closet is the boxy coat with a hint of menswear inspiration, like the one this Fashionista paired with her mod-feminine ensemble. This black and gray coat from ASOS is classic yet contemporary and has the same perfectly structured look.
She goes for an unexpected twist with some studded loafers, which incorporate a subtle edge which works as the perfect tribute to her personal style. I can definitely relate as I always push for that extra edgy quality whether it be with studs, leather or just enough scuff. Along with a pair of great pastel pink sunglasses, she accessorized with a large structured black leather handbag perfect for being on the go and handling the everlasting issue of lugging around too many things.
This Fashionista masters dressing for a cold winter day without forgetting about fashion as well as giving that great coat you always wear the ensemble it deserves. A comfy-chic sweater, jeans, coat and a shoe of your choice is an easy go-to look that really does work every time.
One Simple Change: All the awesome pieces in this look make it a piece of cake to transform for a more formal dress code. Try swapping jeans for a black skater skirt and tights for a fun, feminine silhouette; and I would personally go for a modern wedge heeled ankle boot like this pair from Zara.
