No matter what campus you may find yourself during the close of the semester, there’s no denying the uphill battle us Fashionistas/os face each and every day: dressing for frigid weather. Lately, I can’t help but find myself desperately longing for the breezy summer temperatures and minimalistic sundresses that come along with it (missing those cat eye sunnies as well). Thankfully, the effortlessness of a summer mini dress can (miraculously) be found in the winter season! The key to busting your winter weather blues lies in mastering the art of layering, which I must say is a lot less intimidating than it sounds. For the next chilly cold front, bid farewell to your tried and true denim and put a new spin on an old warm weather favorite with the addition of some chic and cozy separates.
Amidst finals week, I came upon this Fashionista donned in a bright ensemble that is living proof that style doesn’t have to be sacrificed at the expense of freezing weather. When temperatures dip, as much as it may pain you, keep your beloved hoodie on the shelf and opt for a classic peacoat instead. Other than having a style that has truly stood the test of time, a number such as this will carry you through the winter season, adding a touch of Parisian cool girl vibes (Isabel Marant, anyone?) to whatever you decide to pair it with. Whether it was a sundress or your favorite mini skirt you just can’t seem to get off your mind, breathe some new life into an old wardrobe staple by adding a pair of patterned tights, as this Fashionista executed. Tie the look together with a warm scarf and fuzzy sweater (a la Clueless) in a bright hue to take the edge off the next time temperatures take a plunge.
One Simple Change: Ditch the scarf and swap the boots out for a pair of heeled over-the-knee boots to master a look worthy of your next holiday party!
