WHAT TO WEAR: Class

“If you look back in history of the women who are most memorable and most stylish, they were never the followers of fashion. They were the ones who were unique in their style, breakers of the rules. They were authentic, genuine, original. They were not following the trends.” Nina Garcia’s words could not be truer.

As we enter into the month of October I think it safe to say that we all back into to the swing of school (if not reluctantly). And though I am heartbroken to say good-bye to summer, I would be lying if I didn’t say that images of hayrides, pumpkin patches and Halloween have me eagerly anticipating what this fall has to bring. With all this newfound excitement for the season, one can easily forget one of the biggest responsibilities for every college Fashionista: school.

It can be especially easy to start to fall into a fashion slump. Fortunately by stocking up on fall basics in neutral colors you can avoid this and stay comfortable and stylish. This Fashionista kept her outfit simple but cozy, wearing a pair of dark wash skinny jeans, a fall wardrobe staple and a plain black T-shirt. To fight off the early autumn chill she added a long gray knit cardigan. She completed the outfit with a par of classic black combat boots, perfect for trekking around campus.

One Simple Change: The greatest aspect of this outfit is that it is all made up with basic staple pieces, making it super versatile. Need to let off some steam with friends after a long day of class? Switch out the jeans and T-shirt for a midi-length bodycon dress. Add a swipe of bright red lipstick for a pop color and you are ready for a night out with your girlfriends!
