WHAT TO WEAR: Class

Last week marked the end of my summer living in Denver. I am going to miss many things about the Mile High City including the mountains, my amazing internship with Denver Style Magazine and the effortless fashion the city has to offer. Heading back to Valparaiso, Indiana for my senior year of college is mind-blowing to say the least. While I am both nervous and excited, I know that my sartorial choices and styling skills I gained over this summer will provide the perfect back to school confidence booster.

I spotted this Fashionista downtown and absolutely adored her pre-fall look. Her red and blue plaid dress perfectly complemented her toned down, neutral accessories. Denver is a city that is huge on the local scene. Local breweries, local coffee shops, local artisans—the city has it all! This Fashionista was wearing a cool wrap bracelet from a local jewelry maker based in Colorado and stone rings. Her accessories add a pop of personality to her outfit while also showcasing her one of a kind knuckle tattoo.

Speaking of personality, her belt was both vintage and intricately designed. When I had a closer look, I saw the back said the name Phil in bold, block letters. Though this dress could be worn with or without a belt, this particular piece helped shape her loose dress and was definitely a conversation starter. This is a look that is super casual, comfortable and stylish. I could picture anyone wearing this through 90 minute class lectures. I would recommend bringing an extra layer such as a fringe cardigan so you stay warm in the sometimes frigid classroom temperatures while still maintaining a laid back vibe.

One Simple Change: If you are an individual who has night classes and are planning on going out for dinner with your roommates at the latest trendy restaurant, swap the cardigan for a leather jacket and you’ll pull off the perfect girl’s night out look.
