WHAT TO WEAR: Class

When I spotted this Fashionista, it was a sunny, bright day and it was intensely hot outside. So naturally, my eyes were drawn to her outfit; she was wearing jeans, a cardigan and close-toed shoes. I originally believed she had to be immune to the 90-degree weather. As it turns out, she was simply heading back from class.

A vital rule for every college student, especially when headed to class, is to layer. This rule applies all year round considering how fickle temperature can be but since it’s the summer, this rule is more important than ever. With the temperature rising outside, classes and school buildings are going to have stronger, and colder AC. This Fashionista had the right idea with her outfit and she accessorized in the perfect way. too.

To stay comfortable and warm in class, she was wearing a gray tank top and ripped jeans and even though her outfit began with basics, she topped it off with a great layering piece, her knit kimono. She kept the rest of the outfit neutral with black, glitter sneakers and a brown tote bag instead of a backpack. While her accessories like her thin, silver bangle, were kept to a minimum, she still looked like she was ready to take on anything and everything.

This Fashionista had the perfect outfit for taking notes and listening to lectures. Despite the weird temperature difference between indoors and out, she was able to use layering to her advantage to create an outfit that simultaneously kept her warm and cool.

One Simple Change: Want to go from class to the weekend? Swap out your jeans for some patterned shorts. Not only do they easily match with any colored tank top, but the lightweight material will help you make it through the hot weather seamlessly. Play with colors and have fun!
