WHAT TO WEAR: Class

March 31st, 2015 at 2:00am

The week leading up to the first day of spring felt like a mirage in New York City. Temperatures were prematurely warm, the sun was bright and layers came off as New Yorkers embraced an unsuspectedly mild March week. That is, until the first day of spring brought the least festive weather event of all—a snow storm. Following the snow storm was only more confusing weather. It is during times like these that we need to pay attention to our premonitions and use vigilance when deciding what to wear when the weather is temperamental.

This Fashionista smartly marches to class ready for the tough transitional weather. The key here are her layers upon layers upon layers. She begins with a classic black leather bomber jacket that is perfect for transitioning seasons but brings it to life with a chiffon, high-low cardigan that adds a layer of texture and style. She layers these over a basic black cami tucked into the perfect pair of neatly destroyed blue jeans. This way, she will be comfortable in the chilly climate, but if she’s lucky and the weather suddenly gets warmer, she will be ready to shed the layers and enjoy the sun.

She finishes off the look with a pair of smart, black booties with zippers that complement the zippers on her leather jacket and keep her looking put together and sophisticated without losing the sleekness of the other black layers. She throws on her everyday backpack and is full of ferocity and ready to strut through whatever elements the day brings her way!

One Simple Change: Taking the look from day to night? Play up the layering theme and try adding a scarf or beanie for when the weather cools down at dusk!
