WHAT TO WEAR: Class

It’s 9:35. How did you ever wake up this late? You have to leave for class in 10 minutes if you would like to be there on time. And for one day this week you would like to look cute… or you would even settle for passable. Girl, I’ve got some news for you: as long as you feel confident about your outfit, most people will as well. Throw on a sweatshirt, classy sweatpants, stackable rings and you’ve got yourself a rockin’ outfit for class.

However, if you’ve ever found yourself with a little more time and a little more clean clothes at your disposal, I hope this Fashionista will serve as the perfect guide for rolling into class at the last minute and still owning it. For those of you who have yet to purchase a solid fitting pair of high-waisted jeans, add it to the shopping cart. It’s a must-have. Although it may seem so last year, it is true that nothing flattering is ever out of style. I am a firm believer that if you look good and feel comfortable in it, it is fashionable.

This Fashionista, for example, is wearing classic Rachel-esque jeans, (forever a fan of Friends) along with a shirt and jacket that pushes the normality of the outfit. Start with a basic ensemble and pinpoint one aspect that can spice up the outfit. In this case, this Fashionista chose some bulky, bold camo print outerwear. If there ever was a time to wear a camo jacket, jeans and Dr. Martens are an opportune moment! Or, if your southern campus doesn’t require much in the way of winter wear: add jewelry, savvy shoes, or—for my favorite switch up—change the length of your shirt. The most interesting feature of fashion this runway season is the varying shapes and layers. Wear a shirt that goes to your knees, or one that barely covers your boobs. If you are comfortable in it, levels are an instant way to make standard attire have tons of shock value. So keep your classmates guessing and throw on a cropped jacket with a tunic length shirt. Fashionista/os, feel comfortable and be confident!

One Simple Change: Meeting up with some friends for dinner? Change out of your jeans and into a fun and flirty skater skirt.
