WHAT TO WEAR: Class

February 6th, 2015 at 2:00am

During registration each semester, I try to remind myself to make a mental list of which classes to avoid. I do all I can to arrange my schedule into the most ideal day. But despite all of my determination, I will invariably end up in an 8:00 a.m. class.

If there is one thing I think everyone can avoid, it is looking like the stereotypical college student, outfitted in sweatpants, with bags under our eyes. You might have perfected the “sleeping while awake” trick, but there is no excuse for looking as if you rolled out of bed. It is possible to look put together and polished without putting in too much effort. This week’s Fashionista shows us how it’s done.

She kept her outfit clean and cozy with complementary earth tones and subtle textures. Corduroy pants are no longer a thing of the past, and can look modern and fresh in an unexpected color. Our Fashionista chose to pair her cords with this knit sweater from H&M. It is perfect for layering from winter through spring. Rock combat boots such as these for the perfect clean, winter look. Stay on trend and add some flair to your look by choosing a pair of fold-down combat boots, with a bright patterned lining.

Another trend that our Fashionista is rocking is her marled slouchy beanie. What better way to get away with a lazy hair day than with an effortless knit beanie? They add a little warmth, while bringing some seriously cool style. She kept the rest of her accessories simple with a dainty gold arrow bracelet.

You might be stuck in a cold, poorly lit room at an indecent hour of the morning, but if you follow the lead of this Fashionista, there is no need to look anything other than polished and ready to tackle the day. The old adage “dress for success” might sound cliche but you might be surprised at the difference it can make!

One Simple Change: Opt for a more feminine ensemble by adding a bold statement necklace and a bright lip color. The diamond shaped tips on this bib necklace from BaubleBar perfectly pairs with our Fashionista’s current bracelet, but kicks up the edge a few notches. This will create the perfect “girl’s night out” look and take your style from class to happy hour in a jiff.
