What to Wear

Toss aside your sweatshirts and sweaters and make room for some colorful, summer clothing. It is finally summer! After a long and harsh winter and even spring here at Marist College, the weather is finally starting to warm up. Fashionistas everywhere are excited to break out their summer outfits and throw aside their heavy sweaters. My favorite time of the year is when I can put away my winter and spring clothing, which has become so drab and boring, and exchange them for more colorful and cool clothing. Although the wind from the Hudson River may cause it to not be warm enough to wear shorts and tank tops, it is certainly time to break out some light and comfortable harem pants!

I saw this Fashionista on her way to her summer class. She looks comfortable and cute in her patterned harem pants paired with her crop top and cardigan. The harem pants make the outfit comfortable enough to sit in class, while still making her look trendy and dressed up. They are the perfect alternative to sweatpants by providing the comfort every student craves during dreaded summer classes, while still making the outfit look cute and well put-together. These clothes have bright patterns and designs, adding to the look and making this Fashionista stand out against the crowd. It’s as if her pants, shoes, cardigan and crop top mean to be paired together; they really accentuate each other in this look.

The accessories chosen with this outfit also complement the ensemble. The different elements, such as the long, gold necklace, along with her many rings, gold watch and assorted bracelets complete the outfit and add a classy touch without being overpowering. Not only are her accessories beautiful, but they really tie the outfit together and complete it.

One Simple Change: For a girls’ night out, swap out the harem pants for a pink skater skirt. Switch out the tan flats for a pair of tan wedges or pumps. Replace the cardigan with a leather jacket and you have the perfect night outfit!
