WHAT TO WEAR: Class

It’s happening: the mid-semester slump. But I’m not talking about classes; I’m talking about clothes. I’ve found myself starting to get more and more creative with my outfits as the weeks bear on because I’m running out of things to wear to class. I look through my closet, pick out a jacket and think “how many times has my Advanced Fiction class seen this?” I’m reaching into the way back, pulling out my daring Frankenstein booties and kitty cat tights and trying to convince myself that I’m a trendsetter. But with my faux air of confidence, I think I manage to pull it off.

When my eye caught this Fashionista sashaying in front of the library on her way to class, I just knew I had to stop her. I’m not usually a fan of horizontal stripes, but this girl was working it. Her pin straight hair and pinstriped crop top was turning heads paired with her olive American Eagle Outfitters jeggings and Chelsea style boots. She accessorized her look with a crystal necklace, earrings and Alex and Ani bangles, topping it off with fashionable sunglasses to block out Florida’s ever-present sunshine.

The high-waisted trend doesn’t seem to be going anywhere, and neither do crop tops. This Fashionista adds a sophisticated edge to the trend for class, by picking out a cropped turtleneck and five-button pants, making her comfy and cute, but still putting in some effort. What really finished off the look was her fresh face of natural makeup. Her matte lip cream in shade “Marvelous Mauve” was demure enough for class, and some light liner around the eyes really made them stand out. I’m sure the hottie in her chemistry class took notice.

One Simple Change: In order to change up this look for a night out on the town, all this Fashionista needs is some chunky wedges and a darker lip to really go from day to night. She could even switch it up by swapping out the jeggings for a pleather skater skirt to add a fun twist.
