For most of us, the perspiring walk to class is enough to have our skin covered in a glaze, outfit ruined and a frazzled look on your face. As long as the sun is shining, classroom thermostats will continue to read 68 degrees, making it nearly impossible for Fashionistas to find a perfect balance between a comfortable and cool look.
I think we can all agree that it is one of the most difficult times of year to fashion together an appropriate outfit for class. Temperatures fall somewhere in between the 70s and 90s, depending on the heat wave for the week. Until about mid-September, our campus will sway from a sultry desert to a steamy island, all the while maintaining its location at a Midwestern university. All the more reason to add a few weather friendly pieces into your wardrobe this fall.
I spotted this week’s featured Fashionista relaxing for a few moments in the shade on an afternoon walk to class. Any Fashionista can piece together an outfit like this from their closet. She paired together a mixture of fashionable pieces that are both class and weather appropriate. In a moment’s time, the weather will take yet another turn on our outfit choices for the fall and force us to move away from shorts until spring. Take advice from this Fashionista and soak up what’s left of the blistering heat while flaunting your beautiful legs with a pair of lace trim denim shorts and Tory Burch leather sandals. If brand names aren’t your usual style, take a trip to a local consignment shop and fashion yourself a pair of high-waisted denim shorts, add a touch of lace and you’re good to go. A few of my favorite pieces are the ones I’ve designed on my own. Mimic the style of her tank with a lace bralette paired with a cotton scoopneck cami. Top it off with a Brandy Melville cardigan to keep warm in a chilly classroom.
What really completes this look are her accessories. A traditional shoulder bag is a perfect fix for all fashionable women. Her Marc by Marc Jacobs Classic Q Hillier Hobo is an extremely versatile bag that can hold all the things we carry to class and can simply not live without. Featured is a pair of Tory Burch sunglasses, the perfect amount of eye candy to shield away the scorching sunlight. Don’t be afraid to spice up a quick and casual outfit for class, after all, you never know who you’ll run into.
One Simple Change: Embellish this outfit for a night out with girlfriends by ditching the denim shorts for a pleated maxi skirt and a stack of gold bangles. Paint your lips with a berry toned lipstick and let the night run wild.
