I recently visited home for a couple weeks before school begins and, in addition to eating home cooked meals and central air, I was looking forward to seeing what people in my hometown were wearing. With little let up from the relentless late summer sun, I found to my disappointment that Main Street was swarmed with girls in variations of the same shorts and tank top combination.
However, when I met this beauty and dear friend in the library, I was delighted to find her dressed up for a long day of class. This art conservation major proves that creativity is not limited to one form of expression, but rather is something that seeps into all aspects of your life.
What I love most about this outfit is her attention to detail to create a thoroughly polished look. Even though it’s still warm, I love that she made black the main color of her outfit and chose red and white as accents.
Although I don’t own a little black dress yet, this Fashionista is proof that the style is not restricted to evening wear and can easily be worn for a casual day in class. Simple accessories such as sandals, a canvas bag and of course, your books, make the look casual enough for the daytime, but still gives you a refined look. A blazer in a fun color is great for cold classrooms and cubicles.
One Simple Change: For a girls’ night out afterward, switch out the canvas bag for a clutch and add a bright lipstick for contrast.
