WHAT TO WEAR: Class

We can’t wait any longer for midterms to be over. It has been enough of the long nights studying and coffee to help us get through the week. However, we can’t let our busy lives steal our style away. If studying doesn’t make us feel better, getting dressed and expressing who we are using apparel definitely will. Even if it’s just for class, getting dressed is always the most anticipated part of a Fashionista/o’s day. As I was running to get to class, I ran into this laid back Fashionista, who had on the perfect outfit for class.

It impressed me to see how much style a simple outfit could have. I asked her, “Do you usually dress up like this for all your classes?” She responded: “I usually vary what I wear to class depending on the weather and on my mood. Today I felt chilly and relaxed, so I wanted to wear something that would make me feel comfortable.” Her outfit definitely seemed comfy. But what made it remarkable was its tomboy style. The Fashionista was able to create this style by using a large, thrift shop style blue jacket, which is perfect for Boston’s spring weather.

Even though the outfit is a bit tomboyish, her tight Brandy Melville crop top made her look feminine and sexy, without revealing too much. The Fashionista decided to use a simple and common top to make her gorgeous pants the protagonists of her outfit. Her black pants with silver zippers are totally in for this season. They are a must-have in your closet due to their versatility. They are useful for everyday activities, such as class, a night out with friends, a dinner and any occasion you might think of. This Fashionista demonstrated her sense of style and awareness of fashion trends when she decided to use them to class. Black is the perfect color combination to fit the blue color of the jacket and the light gray and white of the tops.

However, the Fashionista took a risk by using brown with black. People might sometimes think that black and brown don’t go well together due to their dark shades, but for daytime use, this combination is perfect for those people who like using dark colors. This is because the two create a perfect balance of darkness in an outfit. The Fashionista’s brown booties are perfect for class because they are comfortable, casual, fashionable and at the same time helpful to keep your feet warm while getting to class. Lastly, her black choker matches her pants and her everyday style since it is a jewelry piece perfect for quotidian events, like going to class.

One Simple Change: By taking off the large blue jacket, this outfit could transform into weekend wear material because the pants are trendy enough to make the Fashionista look chic, but her booties and crop top are basics to make the outfit appropriate for a day walking around the city, shopping or visiting a friend.
