WHAT TO WEAR: Class

Returning back to campus after a long and (let’s face it, much needed) break can be exciting. While the weather is not the best, winter does provide for some killer fashion statements. Vanderbilt students are always known for dressing to the nine’s. Even for her 9:00 am Sociology class, this Fashionista is dressed to impress. In weather as unpredictable as Nashville’s (raining one day, beautiful and sunny the next, and then freezing cold), it is important to remain not just fashionable but functional.

Walking to class can seem like a drag and you’re go-to may be a pair of leggings and whatever sweater you can find. However, a simple pair of jeans can dress up any outfit. Right now, distressed skinny jeans are very popular and a more put together option than leggings. They add structure to an otherwise relaxed look. Days can be long, filled with classes, meetings and other activities, especially for a residential advisor like this Fashionista. While being comfortable is always a main concern, she is still able to maintain an easy and edgy look.

Kayla is wearing the Rip Leigh Jean from Topshop. Her totally rad umbrella can be picked up at any Target location – seriously fashionable and functional! For rainy days, it is absolutely necessary to have a killer pair of rain boots. Hunter Boots go with just about any style, last forever and are the perfect staple to have in your closet.

One Simple Change: Your daily plans are just as unpredictable as the weather is in Nashville. Spur of the moment change of plans happen all the time. You want to go off campus for a bite to eat? If you wanted to take this look from the classroom to perhaps a brunch or lunch off campus, all you have to do is add your favorite pair of heels!
