WHAT TO WEAR: Class

Goodbye 2015 and hello 2016! It is the beginning of yet another year and we all know that means new resolutions, new classes and fresh fashion trends. I hope that you all enjoyed your holidays and are looking forward to the season and semester ahead. I have been looking into the runway shows for spring 2016 and I am intrigued to see trends from romantic to denim to tie-dye. Check out the collections from Oscar De La Renta and Alexander McQueen for romantic spring looks to inspire you.

For anyone that lives in North Carolina, I’m sure you can relate when I say that North Carolina can be quite bipolar when it comes to the weather. In the fall and winter months, the morning can start off with frigid temperatures that require you to throw on layer after layer. By the time your afternoon classes end, you are sweating and ripping off the long sleeve sweater and mittens you started your day off with. So, with a mild winter day and full class schedule ahead of you, what do you wear?

Living in an area with such uncertainty about what the weather will bring, This Fashionista was well-prepared for the day ahead. She tells me that she tends to wear this outfit for holiday gatherings, including Thanksgiving and Christmas with the family. However, with the holidays behind us, she felt this cloudy and humid day here in North Carolina called for a dress and a pair of boots to keep her warm and dry on her way to class. She is wearing a black dress with paisley designs and budding red roses. She finishes this look off with a pair of knee-high boots and a few simple gold rings on her fingers. This Fashionista took a vintage dress that belonged to her mom and wore it in a very modern way. One aspect that I love about this outfit is it gives you a lot of freedom to play around. You can wear this dress with boots and a cardigan for a day that is a little chilly, but you also have the option to throw on a pair of gladiator sandals or wedges for a day that brings a little more warmth. An outfit like this is perfect for the gradual transition out of the winter months and into spring.

One Simple Change: Do you have a busy day ahead of you that requires you to go from classes to meetings to dinner with friends, but no time to change? Take a boho or spring dress and switch out the boots for a cute pair of wedges. Just toss some wedges in your book bag and you can easily jump from history class to downtown in no time. Whatever you do, do it with confidence!
