The first week of school is filled with trendy threads and straightened hair. In other words, students are often seen in the best of their summer wardrobe, looking lively and stress-free. Due to the minimal workload of Syllabus Week, we all (at least a large majority of us) can spend a good amount of time selecting the perfect outfit and grooming ourselves to look like the models we gawk over in magazines. For those of us (myself not included) who have inhibitions when deciding what to wear to class, choosing an ensemble that is the perfect balance of scholarly and chic can prove to be quite difficult. Therefore, I advise you to look towards this week’s Fashionista for inspiration.
I spotted this Fashionista whilst meandering through campus and instantly knew that I had to ask to snap her photo for CollegeFashionista. She sports a clean editorial look with her navy blue trousers, collared button-up and eye-catching red shoes. I love the element of surprise her shoes provide for it pivots her ensemble into quirky territory. Such a nuance makes this look one that both editor and fashion blogger would approve of — a rare outfit indeed.
Lucky for you, it’s really easy to snatch up a look like this and call it your own. Simply purchase a pair of trousers and team them with a cheeky button-down. For some pop, throw a pair of flamboyant kicks on your feet and you’re set!
The best thing about such an ensemble is how it’s a two-piece outfit aka it’ll take you no more than a minute to put on, so when things get busy later in the semester you can still look in vogue and have time to grab that morning coffee.
One Simple Change: For colder weather, opt for a sweater instead of a light button-down or wear the sweater on top of the button-down for layers that’ll keep you warm and cool (figuratively) when fall and winter strike!
