WHAT TO WEAR: City Street Chic

Walking through the streets of New York City is my favorite way to get new style inspiration. Each street is like a runway, with everyone flaunting their favorite fashions in the most unique ways. Being surrounded by all of this style can add pressure to look your best. After all, who doesn’t want to put their best foot forward?

This Fashionista has nailed the perfect “effortlessly cool” look for a day of shopping and snacking in the city. Her high-waisted, ripped boyfriend jeans are a staple that are both comfortable and chic for any occasion. She kept things casual with a tight black off-the-shoulder shirt topped with a black, quilted bomber jacket. Bombers are a great staple piece as they can be worn as a jacket for a layer of warmth or simply left on as a shirt all day long for class or errands. The diamond, quilted texture on this jacket sets it apart from more traditional satin bombers, making it a go-to for this Fashionista.

When it comes to accessories, this Fashionista keeps it simple. A black velvet choker compliments her off-the-shoulder shirt and provides a great contrast against her bright blonde hair. These black suede booties are the perfect shoe for a long day of walking. The short block heel provides just enough height and support without being uncomfortable. Once again, a very chic contrast is created by the dark black shoes against the pale blue jeans.

No matter what trends you are interested in, it is important to remember that staying comfortable in the city is always key! After a long day of perusing stores and city blocks, your body will thank you for wearing something that makes you feel as good as you look. Though the desire to show off your style is definitely worth giving in to, there is never a reason to spend the day in an outfit or piece that you find uncomfortable. After all, how do you think “athleisure” became so popular?
