WHAT TO WEAR: Casual Date Night

What to Wear

On icy January days in Flagstaff, there’s almost nothing I love more than a hot green tea latte — especially if a cute boy is buying! As broke college students, we can’t really expect to be wined and dined when it comes to dating, but I’ve definitely learned to appreciate a complimentary cup of coffee (along with some top-notch conversation and flirting, of course). After four years at NAU, I’d like to think that I’ve successfully mastered the ideal coffee date ensemble, which usually consists of something feminine but practical. The perfect combination of cute and casual is important when venturing out into the cold to meet your beau for a warm cup of joe!

While leaving one of my favorite local cafes, I noticed this Fashionista looking adorably put together as she scurried to her coffee date. Sporting some serious cognac leather statement pieces, she looked toasty and comfortable but perfectly prepped for a dressed down date. Using dark skinnies as her blank canvas, this collegian piled on the tortoise-patterned accessories. Pairing distressed leather boots with a coordinating leather bomber and oversized satchel keeps her look sophisticated without being too matchy-matchy — after all, the last thing you want to do for an informal date is show up looking way too overdressed!

By layering a bold scarf over a basic black V-neck, this Fashionista adds some major texture to her look while still staying true to her relaxed vibe. Chic gold aviators and a boyfriend style tortoiseshell Michael Kors watch are the go-to accessories for this stylish Lumberjack, especially because they go so well with her warmly hued getup.

One Simple Change: If there’s one thing I’ve found the male species unable to resist during winter months, it’s a stylish girl in a knit beanie. Something about this understated hat just seems to lure them in! Take your weekday layered look to the next level by rocking the signature Flagstaff accessory — a floppy, hipster beanie. So next time that cute guy from your psych class wants to buy your Starbucks, use this Fashionista as your wardrobe inspiration and put together a look that oozes femininity and simplicity.
