Many of us can totally relate to this all-to-familiar cliché: It’s five minutes before your date shows up and you still aren’t dressed. You’ve ran around your apartment tossing aside dresses, heels, jeans and leather jackets. Through all this madness, you still aren’t satisfied. Then, it suddenly happens: You find the outfit you’ve been searching for this whole time! Although Mr. Perfect will never know the difference, inside, it gives you the added confidence and flare to get you through the night.
For my date nights, I personally always go for something comfortable no matter what. I love pairing something with my favorite skinny jeans, and leggings with perhaps a graphic or solid T-shirt along with simple jewelry and makeup. You want something to flatter you, but modest is hottest, especially if this is your first date. You want to make a good impression through coffee, dinner and a movie with not only your charming personality.
This Fashionista nailed it perfectly with a triple threat of subtle colors in green, orange and lavender that caught my attention as I walked outside the library. Her structured green coat, staying within trend of primary colors, was something to behold. Along with her cream colored scarf and orange dress, all three complemented each other for a perfect winter weather outfit in South Texas. Her lavender Coach purse, floral print sunnies and black tights were the icing on the cake for an added ounce of girly-ness.
So while you very excited for what could be your first date, (or your second!) my tips are to stay away from electric colors like shades of neon and beware of something too revealing like a low cut blouse, or mini skirt. Stay classy, ladies.
One Simple Change: For some added sparkle, trade your scarf in for some layered necklaces.
