With spring break right around the corner, most college students have already started looking for a summer job or internship. The hardest part of this process is finding a place to start. Not knowing where to look can be intimidating enough to further prolong even starting the job hunt. One way colleges try to help their students is by hosting career fairs. This is a great way to investigate a bunch of different opportunities at one time as well as make great personal connections for the future. Like any interview, you are going to want to make a good first impression. In my opinion, the best way is to dress the part.
I spotted this Fashionista on her way from one of the many career fairs Virginia Tech hosts. I love her look; I think it says both professional as well as chic. Her green blouse is absolutely stunning. The color is very bold and gives her an advantage by standing out amongst everyone else. The dark skinny jeans create a clean crisp line. They are the perfect balance between baggy and skin-tight.
Flats were a perfect choice, rather than a pair of heels. If she had chosen heels, I think it would have looked like she was trying too hard because in reality how many students do you see strutting a pair of heels on a daily basis. The neutral color of her shoes complements her necklace beautifully. With her top and pants both being darker it would have looked too busy if she had tried to incorporate another color through her accessories. The final perfect touch was that she curled her hair. I love the way it contributes to her overall professional look.
One Simple Change: For an actual internship, I would add a blazer over top as well as a pair of colored jeans instead of plain blue jeans.
