A college education is truly invaluable. After all, how else would I have stumbled across my beloved Pugsley’s Pizza or known that against all odds, I can fit an entire wardrobe in an armoire? Okay, ‘entire’ may be a bit of an exaggeration. Regardless, maybe even more renowned than the said accomplishments of my college experience are the connections Fordham’s Career Services makes available to the student body. Not only do we go to a school with killer alumni and countless networking opportunities, but we go to a city school on top of that. You know what that means—the pressure to dress to impress is REAL. This week’s Fashionista certainly got the memo.
I spotted this Fashionista grabbing a quick bite before heading over to the Career Fair. Her ensemble is the perfect balance of sass and sophistication. It leaves a lasting remark for all the right reasons; one may even call it the cover letter to her personality. There once was a time when I thought Pugsley’s had my whole heart forever, then I saw this skirt. This Fashionista dons a printed flounce skirt with leather accents.
Keeping it classy, this Fashionista wears a collared blouse paired with a black camisole. The subtle touches on the buttoned sleeves add dimension to simplicity. This theme of edged simplicity is replicated in her choice of jewelry. A gift from her sister, this Fashionista’s Lou Lou Boutique necklace screams, “I’m here to have a good (corporate) time.”
Though Career Fairs may be a time to dress for future employers, it’s also a time to showcase your smarts and style. Take a cue from this Fashionista and channel your inner sophistication and funk for your next Career Fair.
One Simple Change: Exchange the skirt for a pair of high-waisted jeans, throw on a pair of statement flats for flair and head on over to a meeting with a professor to chat about prospective careers.
