WHAT TO WEAR: Career Fair

What to Wear

There comes a time each semester, Fashionistas, when we must push aside our Greek life T-shirts, beat up jeans and dirty old boots and make way for the other side of our wardrobe. This side is full of crisp, wrinkle-free blouses, silky black slacks and neutral flats growing cobwebs and forming to the shape of their hangers. Despite the neglect, it is essential to visit this side of your closet on the days when you are looking towards your future, days like career fair day!

Despite the miserable rain and chill, this Fashionista headed out today to get herself noticed at the career fair. Her outfit is flawless for the occasion as it is professional yet stylish! First thing’s first, her pants are a classic boot cut trouser that every Fashionista should own. These are a go-to piece for job interviews that will instantly make a sophisticated statement. A good pair is pricey, like these by Jones New York. However, until you have the type of job where you will need to be wearing pants like this daily, I think it is okay to go the knock-off route. This pair from H&M fits the bill! Moving on, I just adored how this Fashionista chose a fun blazer to add a little spice to her ensemble. The color is light, making it still very sophisticated and polished but the lace detailing adds wonderful texture and flair to the outfit. If the lace isn’t your thing, try a pop of color instead! This one is LC by Lauren Conrad and comes in an array of fun colors.

Now, the one thing that really impressed me with this outfit was the lack of jewelry. It is important to remember that a lot of bling is not welcome in a professional setting. It is simply distracting to have bracelets jingling and rings sparkling while you are trying to sell yourself as a candidate for employment. So Fashionistas, when it comes to career fairs, keep it simple!

One Simple Change: Instead of the flats, go for a short and sweet black heel to add a little height and sass to your ensemble!
