WHAT TO WEAR: Busy College Day

When picking out an outfit for the day, what should we take into consideration? For this Fashionista and myself, three things come to mind as busy college students: style, comfort and practicality. As Fashionista/os, we want to always be stylish and stand out in a crowd; however, going between classes, study sessions and work can be hectic sometimes, and so comfort and practicality are also key in deciding an outfit. This Fashionista hits the trifecta with her outfit while also nailing some current trends.

This Fashionista starts off her outfit by tackling one of the latest fashion crazes: the white T-shirt under a dress. By pairing a simple white T-shirt with a dress she got from her mom, the T-shirt creates a light background which contrasts the dress and allows the flower print to pop and be a main focus of the outfit. On top of her dress and T-shirt she put on a thrifted denim jacket to combat the cold and add another layer. As an extra detail, she rolled the sleeves of the jacket to fit her better and to give another casual vibe to the outfit. Denim jackets are not only a great and versatile option for outerwear, but they also allow the outfit to be dressed down a little for class and normal day-to-day activities.

To add some finishing touches to the outfit, this Fashionista put on a few simple accessories. First, she wore a camel-colored scarf which she wrapped loosely around her neck. The camel color complemented the colors in the dress and provided her with warmth as she went about her day. Next, she sported a dainty black choker that featured a small silver pendant on it which helped to break up the empty space around her neckline. For wristwear, the Fashionista modeled a brown leather strap watch. The overall use of browns and neutrals in this look help create a cohesive and intricate outfit all from straightforward pieces. When crafting an outfit, think about how the colors and tones of different pieces accentuate and complement one another. Colors, especially neutrals, can take a typical outfit one would see around campus, and elevate it to a high fashion level. To finish off this look, she wore her black leather ankle boots with subtle quilt detailing. Black boots are a staple of winter fashion as they match pretty much everything and are great for enduring the snow.
