There’s something about the atmosphere on a Saturday afternoon that can’t be beat. The night before was spent indulging in the freedoms of the weekend and for most of us, the morning was spent sleeping in, enjoying the sweetly still air, devoid of alarms and a bustling college campus. Though sleeping through the morning is never something we regret, campus awakens and becomes lively at a strange time of day: it’s past the designated time for breakfast, but is still a little early to grab lunch. Thus, the meal I believe was meant for college students becomes our only option: brunch.
How dressed up is too dressed up for brunch? This is something I’ve seen many Fashionistas struggle with and have even struggled with myself. We can’t use the excuse of it being “too early” or “not getting enough sleep” like we can during the week for our early morning classes. Saturdays render well rested Fashionistas and should therefore render chic outfit choices. However, this does not mean we have to get all dolled up in our afternoon best. A good way to start out the day on a weekend is to keep it casual. Grab brunch in something flowy and comfortable, but eye-catching! The best way to do this? Prints.
If you’ve already boxed up your floral prints in preparation for fall, you’re doing it wrong. Just because the flowers outside will begin to lose their petals does not mean your closet should as well! Keep those florals out and rock them this autumn, like this Fashionista did with her high-waisted skirt. I love the way she picked florals with a neutral background; the flowers bring color to her outfit while still being fall season appropriate. She pairs her skirt with a plain quarter-length T-shirt and some amazing floral Dr. Martens combat boots. To adjust to the prominent North Carolina sun, she completes her look with a painfully chic pair of wooden-framed Ray-Ban sunglasses. Her look is a very feminine take on grunge. She is the picture-perfect Fashionista headed to brunch!
