WHAT TO WEAR: Brunch

If there is one thing I learned how to do this past summer in New York City, it is brunch. Yes, brunch became an actual verb in my vocabularly. Selecting a weekend morning eatery from our extensive must-visit list and a fabulous outfit for the meal and day of exploring that would commence post avocado toast became a weekly occurrence for myself and my best friend. It’s one meal I’m thrilled to see be a more prominent celebration in Madison these days.

This Fashionista’s look is perfect for a weekend brunch because it is equal parts stylish and practical. More so, her outfit is just right for the season. The suede fabric of her dress is one of the season’s most coveted trends, and the caramel color has me dreaming of lattes that will be sipped prior to the arrival of the eggs Benedict. Her ensemble is dressy enough for the occasion, without overdoing it. This Fashionista did a great job mixing textures. From her statement-making necklace to her bright white zip-up, each element works together to create a seasonally appropriate mix of texture and trends! Furthermore, as I mentioned, early morning brunches often lead to day long shopping excursions and exploration adventures. Her Converse sneakers are great for this! They’re in line with the red-hot sneaker trend and won’t slow her down like a pair of heeled booties might.

When you’re planning whether to visit DLUX for bottomless mimosas or Bassett Street Brunch Club for creme brûlée oatmeal Saturday morning, don’t forget to think about the outfit you’ll be donning with your gal pals. If you need some inspiration, this Fashionista is the perfect example!

One Simple Change: With a simple change, this fall-inspired brunch look can be transformed into the perfect nighttime statement for a girl’s night out on campus. All you need to do is swap out the casual Converse for a pair of chic heels. Since your dress, jacket and necklace are neutral colors, don’t be afraid to add a pair pumps that feature a standout pattern or unique style. If you’d like to continue the neutral color scheme, a white heel would look exceptionally sleek!
