WHAT TO WEAR: Brunch

Another summer, another internship, another city and another place to explore. Starting over in a new place can be difficult, but interning in a city like New York City can be easier if you connect with a fellow student from your college. A few people from Michigan State got together and created a Facebook group to plan brunches, nights out on the town and trips to museums. Meeting up with fellow students helped my midwestern image spice up to New York City standards. Having people to grab brunch with on Sundays helped me jump out of my comfort zone to find some New York City-based Fashionistas.

This Fashionista’s look for Sunday brunch is the perfect combination of summer weather and bohemian vibes. The base of this look is a simple white tank and a pair of black pleather shorts. Adding a kimono to her already fierce look, this Fashionista rocked Sunday the best way possible. She topped off her look with a black floppy hat. Wearing a hat is the perfect way to swap out sunglasses for a day or hide bad bedhead if you’ve hit snooze one to many times. This Fashionista’s strappy sandals are the cherry on top for festival season. Use this Fashionista’s look as inspiration for brunch with your gals, a food truck event or a weekend music festival.

One Simple Change: Did brunch run over and now you’re rushing across town for a dinner date? Swing by your apartment to throw out the kimono and throw on a dark flannel. This easy switch will be fast, cozy and efficient.
