If breakfast is the most important meal of the day, brunch is definitely the most chic. A weekend doesn’t go by without us all witnessing Instagrams of what editors/bloggers/designers are eating for brunch, proving that the biggest trend is not something you can wear, but rather something you can eat. Truth be told, while brunch is definitely a good reason to go out with friends and eat some delicious food, it’s also an excellent excuse to break out your favorite feminine frocks.
Brunch is obviously still served on even the dreariest of spring days, and this Fashionista showed that she was ready for the late-morning meal no matter how much rain there was. Ohio spring temperatures are pretty chilly, so she made a smart choice by sticking with a gray double-breasted peacoat. Underneath she layered a black floral dress and black tights. She also worked in a pair of classic black rain boots to save her other shoes from getting any water damage while traversing through the puddles.
There’s an undeniable atmosphere of sophistication that comes along with brunching, so it’s never a bad idea to wear florals or a flouncy dress, just as this Fashionista did. I don’t know about all of you, but my college wardrobe is currently an ode to flannels and oversized chambray tops. Brunch is the perfect occasion to switch things up by going for girly prints and silhouettes that you might not usually wear on any given day.
So if you’re looking for plans to dress up for this weekend, go ahead and make reservations at your favorite restaurant for brunch with some friends (even if it’s rainy!). If you take a cue from this Fashionista, you’ll be sure to look absolutely adorable and, not to mention, completely photo ready for all of the #brunch Instagrams you’re bound to take!
One Simple Change: This look is also great for a festival on a rainy day. Swap out the peacoat for a leather jacket to add a touch of juxtaposing toughness.
