I texted my dad a few days ago to plan our family’s upcoming trip to D.C. and asked what he wanted to do. His simple response: “Brunch.” Obviously also signed at the bottom— “Love Dad,” as if I didn’t know who I was talking to (parents and technology…). The brunch culture in D.C. is like no other. We’re the home of the popular “Bitches Who Brunch.” We have endless, bottomless mimosa deals on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the city and have the ability to make a day (and a new word) out of “brunching.” Brunch is a mandatory weekend activity for the college student and also a total fashion show.
Brunch always allows me to show my more feminine side, whether I’m in a maxi skirt or florals. However, this Fashionista is rocking a unique look that I find perfect for a springtime brunch. Her green skinny jeans that are slightly cuffed at the ankle and embellished with a red and white stripe down the leg immediately grabbed my eye. She allowed the red to pop and kept things simple with a white T-shirt and a casual jean jacket. As I recently mentioned, neutrals are a perfect way to achieve a clean-cut look, so this Fashionista adds in super springy, laced tan shoe to top off an edgy look.
When brunching, it’s always important to take some risks, which is why this Fashionista’s pants drew me to love the look. She takes a risk with her embellished skinnies but uses it as the center of the outfit and wears staple items to really make them stand out. She also keeps her accessories simple, but doesn’t hesitate to add in some cool sunnies. Her oversized, square-framed glasses also include a bit of a cat-eye in a dramatic tortoise shade. For the warm seasons, people tend to brunch outside, so make sure you always have some sunnies on-hand!
Since the weather is getting warmer and the school year is coming to a close, make some time for weekend brunch bonding with your friends and have some fun with your look.
One Simple Change: Festival season is here with Coachella just ending and Lollapalooza around the corner! Switch out the pants for a lace maxi skirt and add on a flower headband to achieve proper festival attire!
