WHAT TO WEAR: Brunch

What to Wear

One thing you must do when visiting New York City is go out for brunch. You get to sleep in a little, so no excuses for not dressing cute! Since you’ll probably take a picture of yourself and your friends at brunch, it’s important to look your best. After all, if you didn’t Instagram a picture of your brunch, did it really happen?

Brunch is the perfect excuse to dress preppy and wear pastels and pearls. This Fashionisto rings in spring with a baby blue button-down, looking like he just stepped out of a J.Crew catalogue.

Spring is finally here and what better way to make it feel welcome than wearing pastels? I’ve been waiting months to get rid of my navy and gray and I’m more than ready for pink, mint green and yellow. A pastel button-down is perfect for a preppy spring outfit and so easy to throw on with a pair of cuffed jeans. Before the temperature reaches 50 degrees, layer your outfit with a V-neck sweater, exposing the collar of the button-down. For a fancier look, like this Fashionisto opted for, add a blazer over your layers. Since this Fashionisto’s outfit is mainly neutral, a pair of sand colored suede shoes goes great with this look.

Little details make a big difference and don’t go unnoticed. A pocket square is so simple, yet completely upgrades your outfit in less than a minute. It doesn’t need to match your outfit, it just needs to complement it. This Fashionisto chose a red pocket square with navy blue circles and gold diamonds to stand out against his light gray blazer, cream sweater and light blue button-down.

One Simple Change: In the summer, ditch the blazer, sweater and jeans for a pair of pastel shorts. You can never have too many pairs of pastel shorts when living in Happy Valley. It’s basically an unwritten rule for guys in Greek life to own all of Vineyard Vines, so this is a practical yet polished outfit for any frat boy attending a fraternity event.
