As New Yorkers, I think it is pretty much a given that when it comes to our wardrobe, black is definitely our favorite color. I don’t know about you, but for me, black is one of the dominant colors in my closet. I think this is because black goes with basically everything and it is so easy to put an outfit together. Whether it is a casual look or a fancier dressed-up look, an all black outfit is the easiest way to go. Even when the whole outfit isn’t all black, it is a great base to put a fabulous outfit together. Now, although you may love your head to toe black attire, that doesn’t mean you can’t add a pop of color to your look! No matter what season it is, if done correctly, adding a garment of nice bright color can be a great way to switch up the look and add a little color into your life.
This Fashionista is a great example of this! Her outfit caught my eye because of her beautiful mustard yellow sweater. Because we are now in winter, people tend to stick to darker colors throughout the season; however, she made a bright sweater work perfect for a winter outfit. This is a great example of adding a splash of color using an all black outfit as a base. The base outfit included a black tank top, a black suede skirt, tights, and a pair of thick heeled booties. Having the black base made the sweater the focal point of the outfit and it is appreciated more. The sweater itself is simple, but it is the color that makes it captivating. Of course, a great outfit is made even better with the right accessories and her choice of add-ons was perfect as well. Her accessories included a studded choker, a leather band watch, and a leather crossbody bag. I really liked that all the accessories had silver detailing and it made the look more cohesive. Overall, I absolutely loved her outfit.
One of my favorite things to see is how someone can make a simple outfit so captivating just by adding certain details or styling it a specific way.
