Birthday parties change as we get older. Many of my childhood birthday parties consisted of inviting my 25 “best friends” for a luau, princess or Harry Potter themed party at my house. There would always be dancing, makeovers and of course, a Barbie cake. In recent years, my birthday parties have been low-key, inviting my closest friends and family out to a dinner, where there is no mess to clean up and you get a slice of cake for free if someone mentions it’s your birthday! Although many things have changed in the last seven-ish years regarding my birthday parties, one thing has stayed the same: I always dress up for the occasion.
So, we’ve traded in our Cinderella ball gowns for “regular” dresses, but that doesn’t mean we can’t still look like princesses. Birthday parties are the perfect excuse to throw on your favorite dress. Whether it’s your own birthday or a friend’s, birthday parties should always be celebrated with style.
This Fashionista looks amazing in her white sleeveless dress. White is hands down my favorite color for summer. Something about it looks so effortlessly chic. The peach bow on the back of the dress is absolutely adorable and adds some flare.
She accessorizes with a yellow, gold and orange layered statement necklace, a watch, silver bracelets, rings and white nail polish. She completes her outfit with tan wedges. I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again: wedges are the perfect summer shoe. They are cute and comfy, so you can stand on your feet a little longer without the blisters that usually come with heels.
One Simple Change: Sure, wedges can be cute and comfy, but if your special someone has a fancy date night planned, swap out the wedges for some heels. You might not be as comfortable, but your look will instantly change from birthday party fun to formal—fingers crossed that it’s a dinner date so you can sit down.
