WHAT TO WEAR: Back To School

Every college student dreads the first day back to class after winter break.  Lounging around in comfortable sweatpants at home watching Netflix is something to get used to.  After being accustomed to not getting dressed up for class for a month straight, it’s hard for a Fashionista or Fashionisto to find motivation to get dressed.  With the temperatures dropping in New York every day, it’s tough to be stylish and warm at the same time.

When the cold gusty wind hits you in the morning, you are tempted to run back in the house and throw on a hoodie and a pair of sweats. Then you remember that you go to a fashion school, and it wouldn’t be right to not get dressed on your first day. The go-to look for a New York student on a day where you have no desire to put effort into an outfit but you still want to look chic is an all-black monochromatic ensemble. It’s quick and easy but still stylish for the first day back to class.

This Fashionisto made a great first impression for back to school.  He started with wool black peacoat. It’s perfect for the frigid New York temperatures. He uplifted this monochromatic look with a black and white graphic sweater.  He kept it simple at the bottom with a pair of black joggers. Joggers are a perfect way to be fashionable and relaxed at the same time.  Sticking to the comfortable but chic theme, he added a pair of black combat boots. To finish this look, he accessorized with a scarf, a duffel bag and a gold watch.

One Simple Change: To dress up this look, replace the joggers with a pair of black pants. And replace the boots with a nice loafer or oxford. It would be a perfect look to go out for drinks after class with your classmates.
