WHAT TO WEAR: Back to School

The first day of class can be nerve-racking. No one wants to get to class and realize they forgot something, that they know no one in the room or that they are wearing mismatched shoes (yes, unfortunately, it does happen). With the fall semester kicking off this week, dressing to impress can be a difficult task, especially at art school. The running joke here at MICA is that everyone looks great the first week of school, and then you won’t see them wearing makeup until graduation. While this is true for some college students, I absolutely love putting on a new look for the school year.

Arguably, the most important outfit is the “first day of school” look. You are putting your best foot forward and everyone is going to see you. Our Fashionista is wearing the perfect all black outfit. She wears a short sleeved dress because it’s still boiling outside, but she also paired it with closed toed shoes in case there’s a major Maryland weather change in the middle of the day. Her platform Vagabond boots will allow her to be both comfortable and stylish at the same time!

At first, this look seems pretty straight-forward, but I loved how she paired her simple ensemble with some amazing white cat-eye sunglasses, an amazing retro choker and a subtle, grid print BAGGU backpack. The best part was her amazing vintage accent ring that she got at a flea market in Miami! One-of-a-kind pieces truly make a look come together.

If you wanted to wear this look out after class, you could slip on some funky, printed tights and pull your hair up. Add some red lipstick and a leather jacket, and you are ready for a night on the town!
