WHAT TO WEAR: Back to School

With winter break just ending and college students arriving back on their campuses, it’s finally time to begin a new semester again. With the plethora of New Year’s resolutions and the excitement that comes with seeing all of our college friends again, it is no surprise that Fashionistas and Fashionistos everywhere are holding off on the sweatpants and dressing a little bit nicer to start the first week of classes off right.

Style and confidence go hand in hand and it’s pretty hard to have a bad first day of classes if you feel great in your outfit. This stylish Fashionista definitely demonstrated that. Her cold shoulder sweater from Free People is very whimsical and flows off her small frame very elegantly. When buying sweaters, if you want them to hang off your body there is absolutely nothing wrong with going a size or two up!  This Fashionista also accessorizes her outfit with a long camel necklace and black cross-body bag from kate spade new york. I love these accessories because they are very charming, yet make her outfit look so effortlessly put together.

This Fashionista pulls her sweater outfit together with an edgy pair of black ankle booties from Neiman Marcus. Wearing a heel helps to elongate your legs and make you look so much thinner.  Just be careful when choosing your booties not to wear a pair that will be uncomfortable for walking to and from classes in. A black or brown pair of ankle booties is a great investment for any girl’s wardrobe and easy to transition from day to night. With a chic outfit like this this Fashionista will definitely be turning a lot of heads when she walks into her classes.

When you’re picking out an outfit for the first day of class, don’t panic and start throwing clothes all over your roommate’s side of the room. You might think that you have nothing to wear, but some of the best outfits come from the most basic pieces that are probably already in your wardrobe. This Fashionista made a simple sweater and skinny jeans look dressy by simply wearing a heeled shoe and long necklace. Accessories are key to pulling an outfit together and giving it a personal touch so don’t be afraid to experiment.

One Simple Change: If you get tired of traipsing around campus in a heeled shoe, swap out your ankle booties, for a pair of brown riding boots. They’re just as cute but just a little bit easier to walk in.
