WHAT TO WEAR: Back to School

The stores may be stocked with autumn apparel, but the sweltering temperatures outside remind us all that summer is still lingering. Buffalo has seen a few chilly days already, but for the first day of school, our campus was lucky enough to have some beautiful warm weather.

This Fashionista shows us how to attend classes with style. The sheer floral kimono caught my eye. The kimono has been a trendy item this summer because it is light enough to wear even on the hottest days. It is also very versatile. You can style it with so many different pieces and allow it to become the statement piece. It can even be worn as a cover-up! This Fashionista used her kimono to dress up her navy blue tank top and white shorts. By doing so, a basic outfit becomes a glamourous ensemble. Her white wedge sandals pop against this outfit, and she accessorized with jewelry made from various metals. Mixing metals has also been a trend this summer because the various colors add dimension and character. This outfit was also paired with a chic animal print bag, which was a great contrast to the floral print found in the kimono. Blending prints can be tricky, so match prints that have at least one color in common if you’re unsure.

One Simple Change: If you’re giving a presentation later, it is important to dress more formally. Trade the shorts for black slacks and the wedges for sandals to show that you can look professional and stylish!
