What to Wear to a Casual Grad Party

As the school year comes to an end, graduation season begins! The first half of summer is full of graduation parties and celebrations, and finding the perfect look for a causal grad party can sometimes seem daunting. Usually, you throw on a cute summer dress and wedges as your go-to graduation party outfit, but that could feel a bit overdressed in a more laid-back party. However, for a more relaxed look, or perhaps a party with some fun activities, I enjoy something more comfortable to survive a long day of party hopping!

high-rise denim shorts

A great go-to for a laid-back graduation party is some high-waisted denim shorts, a cute crop top, and some comfy tennis shoes (like black high top Converse) to keep your feet happy as you celebrate! High-rise denim has been a hot trend for a few years now; however, when a trend sticks around this long, sometimes it can get a little boring. It is always a great idea to find a fresh way to put a twist on a basic look! This Fashionista added interest to her laid-back outfit by throwing on some denim shorts that have a cute denim belt built right in. This is genius for two reasons. Firstly, this automatically adds a fun and quirky detail that accents her personal style. Also, it cinches in her waist to emphasize her curves!

Her simple light pink crop top is ideal for this outfit; the mock neck and coloring keep it on trend, while also being modest enough to attend a graduation party. You don’t want to choose anything too cropped or low-cut for an occasion like this! Her Converse are also the perfect choice, keeping her feet comfortable for the hours of socializing as she celebrates her friend’s graduation in comfort and style. These of course could be substituted for any sneakers or ankle boots that fit your aesthetic!

Finally, a tan woven bracelet adorns her wrist. Even though it’s a more minimalist approach to accessorizing, this simple addition really makes her look polished. Adding a small piece of jewelry allows you to show off some unique style without getting too flashy. Furthermore, the fact that her bracelet is woven from natural fibers makes it even better. In this case, it reflects this Fashionista’s love for the environment, and it could even act as a subtle conversation starter about her passions. Choose your accessories with care. Maybe a necklace you picked up while abroad in Budapest or a ring passed down from your grandmother? Sentimental touches, especially at a time focusing on celebration, can be the final push to transform your outfit from basic to something special.
