Finally, it’s starting to get cold in Toronto. While many are retreating to sweatpants and sweaters for the coming of midterms, I came across this week’s Fashionista bright and early looking dressed up and ready to go. This Fashionista is wearing an emerald top and merlot skirt with leather accessories to match. As mentioned in a previous post, merlot is the color of the season while leather is also trending. This burgundy, wine-inspired hue is easy to wear, adds colour to an outfit and pairs well with many others colours. If you are ever unsure, an easy match is to stick with jewel tones, an example being emerald green. Paired with matching leather boots and bag, this Fashionista is well put together and ready for fall.
While this Fashionista’s outfit is created with solid colours, in no way are these clothes wearing her. Notice how the open back in the shirt breaks up the solidness of the top and the A-line skirt that fans out to accentuate the waist. Many fall/winter 2012-2013 lines like Christian Dior focus on accentuated waists with A-line silhouettes. Tights instantly add femininity to any outfit, but may be colder in this weather so leather boots are a perfect way to dress down the look while staying warm. One thing I love about her boots are the bands across the back, mimicking military inspired detailing. As it is getting colder, layers are essential. Try pairing a warmer shearling coat to avoid catching a cold! If I had to put this year's fall essentials in a list, they would include knit tops, statement skirts and as always, boots that pair well with anything!
