CollegeFashionista: I love your outfit. What are you wearing?
Makenzie Pletcher: I have on an Edge dress, Urban Outfitters denim shirt and Steve Madden combat boots. My headband is also from Urban Outfitters, and this backpack is from ALDO.
CF: How would you describe your personal style?
MP: Well I really like to keep things simple, but then use accessories to make an outfit a little more unique. I love wearing jeans, boots and a casual top, but adding something like a scarf is a great way to bring in a great color or a cool pattern!
CF: What’s one item in your wardrobe that you couldn’t live without?
MP: Definitely my black leggings. I wear them with so many different outfits. They’re so comfortable and easy, but your outfit can still look stylish.
CF: Where do you go to get fashion ideas and inspiration?
MP: I love Pinterest. I think it’s a great place to find lots of different ideas for different occasions. It’s so easy to browse around and get inspired — I look at it on my phone during the day and my computer at night.
CF: I love how you made a black dress and tights casual enough for walking around campus and attending classes. You could also take off certain accessories and have a great look for nighttime. How do you go about dressing up or down certain looks?
MP: Thanks! When I buy certain pieces, I look for things I know I will be able to wear for lots of different occasions. If I can’t picture it with at least three or four outfits, I don’t get it. I love items that are versatile! This dress is amazing – I can wear it during the day with boots and then dress it up with heels at night.
