It finally feels like the weather might be taking a turn for the better these days in Washington. The sun’s been shining off and on recently, and whenever it does, students and Seattleites make any effort they can to get outside. It’s during these days that I find myself searching my closet for the perfect outerwear for the March weather. It’s warm enough to go without my January peacoat, but not quite warm enough to sport only a jean jacket. When I spotted this Fashionista, I loved her whole ensemble, but I was especially envious of her solution to my outerwear problem. Her jacket was a perfect neutral shade of gray that’s easy to wear with just about any outfit and, more importantly, the perfect amount of warmth for a 45-50-degree day. Her look is pulled together, comfortable and stylish — from her raspberry colored scarf to her combat boots and socks. Read what she had to say about where she shops and where she finds fashion inspiration online.

CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing today?
Andrea Salgado: Well, this green shirt is from the thrift store. I love Value Village – you can always get great deals. My gray coat is from Nordstrom Rack and my top is from Forever 21.
CF: Do you have a staple piece in your wardrobe — something you can wear almost any day?
AS: I wear tights almost every day. I pair it with either a long top or a dress. It’s pretty simple.
CF: Great! What are your favorite stores to shop at?
AS: I shop at Forever 21 both online and in the store a lot. I also really like H&M!
CF: Is there a trend you’ve seen in magazines or on campus that you really like recently?
AS: Yes! I really liked the A-line, leatherette skirts trend that was going on for fall/winter.
CF: I totally agree. Where do you go to find style inspiration?
AS: Just YouTube gurus – they’re really cool to look at. I specifically go to Fashion Citizen and sometimes I look at this one called Look Under Here. She’s from Canada; she’s very cool!
How To: After scouring the Internet, I’ve found an amazing jacket from Nordstrom that is great for March weather. It comes in mazarine blue, thyme green and stonehenge gray; I love all the different colors and think each one could be incorporated into almost any outfit.
