I was taking advantage of a sunny fall day, spending some time out by the diag when I was fortunate enough to sit down next to this friendly Fashionisto. CollegeFashionista may or may not have turned me into a bit of a creeper so while I was trying to sneakily catch a glimpse of his outfit, I noticed his amazing leather jacket. I absolutely had to know where he got it from and when he replied “Calvin Klein… Collection,” I knew I had feature him for this week’s post.
What strikes me most about this Fashionisto’s ensemble is its minimalist nature. While not heavy in flashy colors or patterns, its texture is eye-catching. Take a look at the second photo to see his jacket made out of aniline leather. While leather is typically known to look tough and rugged, aniline leather instead creates a much softer appeal because it’s actually been soften with oils to give it that buttery feel. If you can somehow get a hold of a leather jacket from the Calvin Klein Collection then please, by all means, grab me one too. If not, take a look at this Banana Republic Monogram leather motorcycle jacket that also gives off a minimalist feel. Try looking for leather jackets with simple designs and few pockets. Prices for leather jackets such as these may seem overwhelming, however, you can look at it as an investment. If you find a simple, good quality jacket, then you’ve found yourself a timeless piece.
Underneath the jacket, this Fashionisto is wearing an Ann Demeulemeester see-through T-shirt. The combination of a thick material, such as leather, with a light, see-through material creates a unique balance. Lastly are the boots and bag. The bag is from the label m.a.+, designed by Maurizio Amadei, and is the epitome of minimalism. Maurizio Amadei is described as an underground designer with distinct designs that include strong structure and strategically placed seams. The Fashionisto’s boots are Frye and can be found on their website. These boots do not evoke simplicity, however, that is what I like about them. Rugged and scuffed, these boots offer another texture to the ensemble while also acting as a breathe of fresh air from minimalism.
